Teaching Pronunciation with TV series – my Braz-Tesol presentation

Last month I had the pleasure to present two talks at the Braz-Tesol international conference. One of them was about pronunciation and TV series and it is now available here.

The presentation itself is available below via Slideshare or can be downloaded from dropbox here.

I have uploaded the video snippets to Vimeo and they are also available below. If you weren’t in Brasilia and have any questions about the topic, make sure to leave a comment.

The first Video from each set is to be used with comprehension questions. The second video is to be used for noticing activities.

  1. ‘Shouldn’t have’ – weak form and elision

2. ‘Hold the door’ – weak form and elision

3. ‘Alexa Again’ – linking /r/

4. ‘Dumb’ – silent ‘b’ and pronunciation of /m/
