Last Friday I had the opportunity to take part in the first Braz-Tesol’s Teacher Development SIG event in São Paulo. I’m going to summarize the highlights of the workshops I attended and also share something I do in order to develop my English whenever I attend seminars or conferences.
If you don’t live in São Paulo, some of the same speaker will be at the Braz-tesol’s local chapter event in Goiania this Friday.
So last week I had come across a very personal article where a man explains why he has got dinosaur tattoos. I thought it was interesting and save it for a future lesson. As luck would have it, I saw a YouTube video on my timeline last night that talks about tattoos in a very similar way. And thus a conversation/vocabulary lesson was born.
Last week I read an article about whether tourists should still travel to Greece despite the economic crisis the country is going through. It reminded me of one of my favourite scenes from the Big Bang Theory and I thought a good lesson would come out of it. I have used it with both adult students, but I see no reason why it wouldn’t work with adolescents as well.
Posts about the Delta have been some of the most popular here on the blog and today I’d like to talk about the Module 1 exam. I took it in December 2012 and Passed with distinction. I belive that talking about the way I prepared for the exam may help other people do well, even though there have been some small changes to the format implemented this year.
I don’t consider myself the biggest Apple fan in the world, although I do own an (outdated) iPhone. My students, however, tend to be tech savvy and always looking for the newest gadget. If your students are also like that, this lesson should be right up their alley.
