Workshop: Teaching Lexically

When? September 27, 2020 (Sunday), from 9:00 to 17:00

Where? online via Zoom.

In this 7-hour workshop Sérgio and Ricardo will talk about implementing the lexical approach in your lessons, based on the work originated by Michael Lewis.

This will involve moving from a grammatical syllabus to a more functional/lexical one, and getting students to notice collocations at all levels. We will talk about different types of collocations and how they can be used to help students become both more fluent and more accurate.

We will also focus on how the lexical approach sees the four skills (Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking) and present our favourite practical classroom activities.

This is a workshop for both experienced teachers, who are familiar with the lexical approach but would like to increase their repertoire of classroom activities, and those who have never used the lexical approach before.
