Workshop: Lesson Observation 2

Lesson observation 2_ return of the trainer

What? A 7-hour course for teachers, coaches, mentors and coordinators who are responsible for observing teachers and giving them feedback.

Based on their experience as CELTA tutors and teacher trainers Higor Cavalcante and Ricardo Barros will answer some hard-hitting questions:

  • How can we examine our teaching-selves and our teaching beliefs? How does that affect the way we observe lessons and give feedback?
  • How are CELTA and Delta observations different? How can that inform your observation of novice and experienced teachers?
  • What are the most common problems for novice and experienced teachers? How can we address them?
  • How can trainers develop oral feedback skills in order to provide support for teaching that requires improvement or is inadequate
  • How can trainers set targets and devise an action plan for their teachers?
  • How can observation frameworks created for regular schools (the German framework, ISTOF, ICALT and FfT) be useful for observing English lessons?

All of these plus hands-on activities including the observation of video lessons and giving feedback to teachers.
