Online: Pronunciation

Teaching pronunciation

In this 3-hour practical workshop for teachers, we will tackle the topic of teaching pronunciation, both as a stand-alone lesson and as shorter activities.

We will discuss the stages of a pronunciation lesson and go through activities that can be used as controlled and free practice. These activities will also be useful to work on pronunciation as part of other lessons (e.g. vocabulary or grammar)

This workshop will cover the following areas of pronunciation:

  • Connected Speech
  • Rhythm and Intonation
  • Individual Sounds
  • Word and Sentence Stress

Some knowledge of Adrian Underhill’s IPA chart is recommended in order to take part in this workshop.
